Vertical Tastings 2019

A vertical is a tasting of a ‘flight’ of wines from one vineyard, one grape variety, of several different vintages.  These tastings demonstrate how different external conditions (weather, time of picking, a winemaker’s particular nuances) are reflected in each wine.

Coal Pit

Anika Willner, Winemaker & Gary Crabbe, Viticulturist will present 4 award winning Pinot Noir wines from the owner’s private cellar, alongside the new release 2017. Limited quantities of back vintage wines will also be made available for sale.

Wet Jacket Wines

While Wet Jacket Wines appears at the outset to be a very young winery the truth is that our roots are steeped in the history of Central Otago. Greg Hay, our owner, was one of a small group who pioneered the wine industry in Central Otago in the late 80’s.

Before Wet Jacket, Greg was charged with starting both Chard Farm (with his brother and father) then Peregrine (with friends), and often recalls the early days when planting two hectares at Chard Farm essentially doubled the Central Otago vineyard plantings overnight.

Wet Jacket’s first vintage was in 2014 and our vertical tasting will take you through the first four years of our life while retracing the steps of our past to better understand how we are where we are today. Sharing the many stories of our history, land and people along the way!

Wet Jacket Wines will be showcasing 4 vintages of Pinot Noir (2014 – 2015 – 2016 – 2017).

    Linden Estate

    Linden Estate aims to make premium boutique wine.  Through careful planning, hard work and attention to detail, exceptional fruit is produced .  The result being wines that achieve depth, richness and complexity with intense fruit flavours.

    Linden Estate will be showcasing their 2015,  2016 and 2017 Reserve Chardonnay. The Reserve Chardonnays were all hand harvested, whole bunch pressed, and wild fermented in French Oak barrels for 15 months. A selection of our finest barrels was blended displaying a rich structured wine capturing our unique soil expression from the Esk Valley.
